Had a good and bad spring hunt in 2010, put my 2 bearded bird limit down in 5 days.
But had a miss on a nice longbeard on day 4 and then the last day of my season had 2 longbeards I was working shot by trespassers right in front of me, then had 3 jakes and a longbeard working into me and the neighbour shot a jake on the property I was on and screwed it up for me.
All this by 10 am.
Made a big move and switched up the calls, I called in 2 jakes and let the 3 1/2" Federal Flight Control #6 fly. Wasn't planning on taking a jake for bird #2, but after all BS I just wanted to head home and relax before I ended up smacking someone.
13.8 lbs
3 5/8" beard
1/4" spurs

18.5 lbs
4 1/2" beard
1/4" spurs

Also managed to put down a decent sized hen on day 3 of the fall season.
9 3/4 lbs.

Called in afew other birds for friends and family to shoot in the spring.

It all depends on the situation on what call I use. Sometimes I could go the whole season getting them fired up ONLY to a friction call and sometimes ONLY to the paddle call. ALWAYS have a diaphragm in the mouth though and YES I use them quite abit.
My call arsenal consists of
4 paddle calls
1 box call
1 scratch call
1 plastic style wingbone call
glass, crystal and slate friction calls
About 20 different strikers to go with the friction calls.
27 diaphragms

Turkey hunting is my #1 and PRIDE and JOY
